Tip of the Week
One of the activities of Halloween is scaring people, to instill fear in them. Have you noticed that if you scare a child, they are very hesitant to come to you? They have to build up courage to overcome their fear before they will feel comfortable being with you.
We, in the pharmacy profession, have similar motivations, reactions, and emotions today, such as:
- A fear of what is going to happen
- A fear of being relegated to less than meaningful activities
- A fear of losing what we have fought for during our professional lifetime after assuming the responsibilities from those before us
- A fear of what will happen if we don't prepare young pharmacists for the future
It is important, and very critical, that we overcome these fears and demonstrate courage in fighting for our profession. It is important to mentor younger pharmacists so they will become aware of the importance of fighting for what pharmacy is and should be. Otherwise, others will tell us who and what we are; we must exercise courage, as patients depend upon us.
