Menopause: The Silent Passage

Gail Sheehy
Pocket Books

A great book for patients approaching menopause

Women entering their menopausal years can never get their hands on enough information about this life-changing process. This book is about one woman’s struggle to unravel the frustrations and myths concerning her own menopause. It is written like a story but contains valid medical information and advice. Sheehy presents information on HRT, hysterectomy, early menopause, Chinese medicine and more. Now that women live nearly half their lives after menopause, the author presents menopause as “the gateway to a second adulthood.” This is a great story for women approaching menopause to read. However, for women who are searching for pure information, this book is not the best choice.
