Stanley W. Jacob, Jeremy Appleton
Freedom Press

This book is easy to read, well referenced and recommended for any pharmacist involved in recommending, or compounding with, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM).

The use of MSM continues to increase in our society. This 272-page softcover book is written by a physician who estimates that he has used MSM with at least 18,000 patients in his practice. The book is organized into three sections: (1) basic science of MSM, (2) clinical applications of MSM and (3) special topics. The basic science section includes the history, chemistry, metabolism and biological effects of MSM. The clinical applications section includes information on the use of MSM to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic pain, stress injuries and inflammation, scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus, interstitial cystitis, fibromyalgia, myasthenia gravis, allergies, snoring and miscellaneous other conditions. The special topics section includes dosage protocols that have been used in practice, as well as a critical examination of MSM myths.
