Pediatric Drug Formulations

Accuracy and precision are of the utmost importance in compounding for pediatric patients, and having available references (especially those on stability data) is essential. If a drug has been compounded for use in children, its formula is probably included in this reference. This revised 142-page spiral-bound reference contains 124 common pediatric drug formulations with documented stability data for both parenteral and oral use, as well as 27 additional formulations. Each formulation lists ingredients and quantities necessary for compounding; instructions; information on stability, storage, and labeling; and references (when available). Pharmacists have long been compounding for children without the aid of literature or formulation standards; however, this reference answers the need for accurate information.
