Androgen Disorders in Women: The Most Neglected Hormone Problem
Theresa Cheung
Hunter House, Inc.
This is an excellent guide to the effects and treatment of androgen imbalances in women.
Androgen disorders are among the most common of female hormonal problems, and they are often overlooked. Theresa Cheung, a women’s health writer, describes how hormone imbalance affects women both physically and emotionally and explains how these disorders can be treated by conventional and alternative methods. This 195-page book is not as comprehensive as Thatcher’s PCOS: The Hidden Epidemic; however, it provides unique insight regarding the symptoms of these disorders. It also gives self-help options and answers questions dealing with the effects of excess testosterone. Of interest to the compounding pharmacist is information on the use of natural progesterone to regulate the menstrual cycle, decrease premenstrual syndrome symptoms, and assist with infertility treatment.
